Reasons a Horse Isn't Running

Chronic Rickettsiosis in Horses

Bacteria of the genus Rickettsia can be transmitted by tick bites/mosquitoes and cause a number of different diseases along with a variety of symptoms. The diseases caused by Rickettsia are summarized under the medical term “Rickettsiosis”. There are hardly any references in professional literature about the infections caused by Rickettsia and their occurrence in horses. Irrespective of the fact that, for example, Rickettsia has been detected in more than 9% of ticks in Baden-Württemberg or in 20% of ticks in the Rhineland. Rickettsia infections are considered extremely rare in humans and horses. If at all, only the acute forms are described, but these are very rare.

Studies describing a connection of chronic symptoms (painful muscle inflammations, muscle tension, reduced muscle build-up, nerve inflammations, nerve pain, rideability problems and lameness etc.) with the bacterium Rickettsia are not available. For this reason, affected horses are treated symptomatically, with no lasting success through osteopathic support.

Our pathogen-oriented bioresonance analyses in recent years have shown that rickettsia is a much more frequent problem in the musculoskeletal system and nervous system of our horses than we currently know, regardless of age or breed, and usually develops into a chronic disease. The affected horses show uncertain and changing symptoms (stiff running on one or both feet, irregular gait or lameness, no bowing, hunching, not going forward or down, cantering badly under the saddle, avoid help), which vary in intensity, sometimes depending on the season ( worsening in wet and cold weather).

The veterinary surgeon’s examinations (X-rays, bending tests, local anesthesia, etc.) do not lead to groundbreaking results. Random findings such as slight, arthrotic changes, changes in the structure of ligaments and tendons are wrongly suspected to trigger the symptoms. Understandably, horse owners try out a large number of feed additives, however, they also do not achieve the desired breakthrough and cannot do so because the pathogen is still present. Therefore, osteopathy, physiotherapy and acupuncture can only have a mitigating effect.

If rickettsia is shown in the bioresonance analysis to be a chronic stress agent in the muscle and nerve cells of the horse, the next step is to develop a pathogen-oriented therapy. It consists of highly effective, naturopathic remedies that have an antibiotic effect. At the same time, a homeopathic therapy for short-term support of the horse that alleviates its symptoms during the pathogen therapy (which can take more than 8-12 weeks) is administered at the same time. If there are no more rickettsia found in the follow-up test, the horse’s development can be started by means of targeted training, accompanying osteopathic methods and herbal remedies, such as for building muscle.
